SketchCrawl Silicon Valley--
We sketch both urban and natural environments, seeking to capture the essence of these spaces. We are grateful to Enrico Casarosa who developed the Sketchcrawl concept and web site.
Two of us hunkered down to sketch at Coffee & More in Sunnyvale on a cold and rainy day. The cafe is located in the historic Del Monte building that was built over 100 years ago. It served first as a drying facility for the famous fruits of Santa Clara Valley. The products were shipped to San Francisco and other outlets on the nearby railroad. Later the building was used a place for growing seedlings. The city of Sunnyvale maintains a heritage orchard containing apricot trees that previously blanketed the area. The orchard is located next to the Community Center and Heritage Park Museum. http://www.heritageparkmuseum.org/ Seeing the orchard in full bloom, and then purchasing the fruit in early summer is a special treat.
