The historic town of Los Gatos beckons us for October's World Wide Sketchcrawl. Find a place to sit and sketch. Historic buildings and Victorian trimmed cottages abound. Of particular interest is the Forbes Mill History Museum which opens at 11:00 am. Located at 75 Church St, Los Gatos, CA 95030. Ask the docent if you want to sketch inside--pencil only most likely.

Pillar Point Harbor
1 Johnson Pier
1 Johnson Pier
Half Moon Bay, 94019
10:30 AM - 2:30PM
At our last Sketchcrawl we decided to go to Half Moon Bay and will be gathering at Pillar Point Harbor's parking lot. Because of the distance, Pierre, a regular, has offered to drive his van which seats up to 10. If you are interested in going with Pierre please leave a message via this blog. Regular sketchers can contact Pierre directly.
If you plan to drive on your own:
About 3-4 miles north of Half Moon Bay, take a left from HWY 1 at light onto Capistrano Rd., and then left again onto side road with parking lots. We will be meeting in the big lot on the left about 10:30 AM.
Schedule for the day:
Leave from Pierre's place at 9:15 AM and return from Pillar Point at 2:30 PM arriving Mountain View about 4 PM. Lunch is brown bag, or at restaurants in Pillar Point as you wish.
Pillar Point is one of my favorite places to sketch. There is a major pier with fishing and sailing boats coming in and out of the harbor, a small beach, also good views from the upper parking area. Farther along on the road there are more views. There is also a small park where one can walk to a good view point (below the Naval Lighthouse).

June 23, 2012 12:30-3:00 PM
Shoreline Park, Mountain View CA
It's summer and time to check out our lovely Shoreline Park. Because the area has so much to offer we won't have a 12:30 meeting. Just pick one or more spots for sketching when you arrive. Plan to meet up at 3 PM in the Kite Flying area for 'show and tell'. The Kite Flying area is about 0.1 miles from the entrance to the park. Restrooms located at the boat house. Bring hat/visor, sunscreen and a light jacket in case the wind is cool that day.
To reach Shoreline at Mountain View directly from the south, take Hwy 101 to the Shoreline Blvd. Exit. Make a right onto Shoreline Blvd. which leads directly into the main entrance of the park. From the north, take Hwy 101 south, exit at Amphitheatre Parkway, then turn left at Shoreline Blvd. and continue straight to the park entrance.
Sketching opportunities:
Kite Flyers: The kite flying area is located about 0.1 miles from the Entrance Gate on your right as you enter. Some serous kiters, unique kites and lots of action there according to Pierre.
Boating and radio controlled boat racing located at the Shoreline Lake Boat House. Follow the signs.
Wild life plus hikers, bikers, picnickers, etc. and scenic views all over the place.

The Main Gallery, an artists’ cooperative with over 20 members, showcases the work of some of the best local talent in the Bay Area. On the plus side, the gallery has an interesting art exhibit on view.
